Job summary

The Hanover Insurance Group is seeking an experienced Executive Underwriter to lead Inland Marine underwriting activities in the Midwest. This full-time, exempt, hybrid role reports to senior leadership and focuses on production quality, portfolio management, and strategic execution.

You will underwrite new business and renewals, drive profitable growth, mentor junior underwriters, and build strong partnerships with agents to promote the Hanover franchise across the region.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of Inland Marine underwriting experience.
• Strong proficiency in underwriting, book management, marketing, and product development.
• Ability to coach underwriters and balance multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication skills: face-to-face, presentations, and written follow-through.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite new business, renewals, and endorsements referrals.
• Achieve financial targets for growth and profitability.
• Drive execution of plans to achieve results.
• Provide oversight to junior underwriting staff on portfolio management and strategic decisions.
• Ensure compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements.
