Description

SUMMARY:

Responsible for the successful overall coordination and supervision of all housekeeping and laundry functions in the hotel, ensuring maximum productivity and superior guest service and satisfaction.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

• Ensures guest rooms are cleaned to standards and well stocked with amenities, by coordinating work responsibilities and inspecting rooms prior to occupancy.
• Coordinates housekeeping work with other departments, as necessary.
• Trains housekeeping employees in the proper execution of their responsibilities and monitors their work closely.
• Routinely inspects work areas, identifying cleaning needs, potential safety hazards, problems or repair needs, and notifies the appropriate individuals for proper resolution.
• Prepares various departmental reports on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
• Maintains an adequate supply of linens, cleaning chemicals and amenity inventories, re-ordering and re-stocking when necessary.
• Properly tags lost and found items and delivers them to the housekeeping office for storage.
• Utilizes leadership skills and motivation techniques in order to maximize productivity and satisfaction of housekeeping employees.
• Facilitates the flow of information throughout the property by organizing and presiding over regularly scheduled meetings with all housekeeping employees.
• Maintains adequate staffing levels in the housekeeping department, by interviewing, selecting, training, scheduling, evaluating, assisting with career development, promoting, disciplining and terminating employees, as needed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Directly supervises the activities of all levels of housekeeping employees in the hotel.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred. Some college education preferred. Minimum of four years prior luxury hotel housekeeping experience required, with progressive supervisory/managerial experience preferred.

SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Must possess effective communication and organizational skills.

This position requires a Level 2 Gaming License.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents, such as policy and procedure manuals, maintenance instructions, and other related documents. Ability to write effective reports and memos. Ability to respond to inquiries from employees or guests. Ability to communicate effectively in one-on-one, small group, and large group situations.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent, and to interpret data from graphs.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense reasoning to variety of situations.
