This is a senior, hands-on housekeeping seat at the center of a private family's primary residence in San Francisco. The home is large and finished to a high standard, and this person owns its daily care: cleaning, laundry, kitchen support, errands, and the hospitality that comes with regular houseguests and periodic gatherings. The role works alongside a junior housekeeper as part of a two-person housekeeping structure for the home.

The role exists because the family's needs have grown and a long-tenured housekeeper is retiring after a valued tenure. The household is establishing fresh routines, so the first months are about learning the home, understanding the family's preferences, and establishing the rhythms that keep everything running seamlessly. The bar for the seat is clear: this is a role for someone with a genuine devotion to the craft of housekeeping, who finds real satisfaction in a beautifully kept home. Over two to three years, the role grows toward a high degree of independence, with the hands-on work always at its heart.

EXPECTATIONS

• Meaningful experience in senior housekeeping for a private residence, or housekeeping at a five-star or ultra-luxury hospitality tier.
• Full-scope housekeeping craft: cleaning, dishes, laundry, ironing, plant care, and the proper care of fine finishes, surfaces, and materials in a newly renovated home.
• Hospitality instincts: caring for overnight houseguests (typically a few days to a week each month), supporting small work meetings at the home several times a week, and helping prepare, serve at, and reset after gatherings of roughly 8 to 50 guests, held approximately seven to nine times per year.
• Inventory ownership across linens, household supplies, and care products, so nothing runs out and everything has a place.
• Daily errands, including mail and package runs; a valid California driver’s license with a clean record is required, and household vehicles are provided for errands.
• Awareness of basic home upkeep (for example, noticing when filters, fixtures, or systems need attention) and flagging or coordinating with the household’s established vendors; technical systems are fully covered by outside specialists.
• Highly organized: keeps running lists, works from priorities, and closes out every task on time.
• Fluent spoken and written English, and basic computer proficiency.
• Physically comfortable with indoor and outdoor work, including lifting up to 25 pounds.
• Genuinely good with dogs; a small dog is part of the household.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Daily Care of the Home:

Own the daily housekeeping of a large, multi-level residence: cleaning, dishes, laundry and ironing, watering plants, and maintaining the standard of care that a newly renovated home with fine finishes deserves. Build and follow the routines that keep every floor guest-ready.

Kitchen Support:

Handle basic kitchen chores such as washing and prepping greens and fruits, juicing, and keeping the kitchen orderly and stocked, in support of a family that is hands-on in its own home.

Errands and Mail:

Run daily errands, including collecting mail and packages from the nearby post office, using household vehicles. Keep the household supplied and ahead of need.

Houseguests and Gatherings:

Prepare guest rooms and care for overnight guests, who typically stay a few days to a week each month. Support small work meetings at the home during the week. For gatherings and parties of roughly 8 to 50 people, held approximately seven to nine times per year, handle preparation, service alongside any outside caterers, and full reset afterward.

Inventory and Supplies:

Manage linens, household supplies, and care products: tracking, restocking, and organizing so the home never runs short and every item is cared for correctly.

Team and Coordination:

Work daily alongside a junior housekeeper, with a shifted schedule between the two of you designed to cover the week, including weekend needs. Coordinate lightly with the household’s established vendors when something in the home needs attention.

Scope Boundary:

This is a hands-on housekeeping role first and always. It is not an estate manager or house manager seat: the home’s technical systems, construction, and vendor relationships are covered by established specialists, and a separate team handles travel and family logistics. Candidates whose ambition is to move away from hands-on housekeeping will not be a fit; candidates who love the work and also bring organizational range will find room to grow.

Uphold complete confidentiality and discretion at all times regarding the family, the home, and its guests. A non-disclosure agreement is required.

COMPENSATION

Compensation: $125,000 to $145,000
