Job summary

The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County seeks a Director of Fleet Maintenance to lead the agency's fleet maintenance functions across multiple facilities, ensuring safe, reliable service. You will set strategy, policy, standards, and budget, directing senior managers to achieve targets for vehicle availability and performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree or higher in business administration, engineering, public administration, transportation or related field.
• Five years' experience as an assistant director or senior manager of a similar department or equivalent.
• Three years' experience in fleet management and labor relations.
• Proven interpersonal skills, fleet diagnostics and data analysis capabilities.
• Experience with FTA requirements for spare ratio, Transit Asset Management, and Triennial Review.
• Valid Tennessee driver license is required.

Responsibilities

• Set multi-year direction and annual goals for Fleet Maintenance and align with service plans and capital program.
• Approve maintenance plan, policies, SOPs, and maintenance standards for all facilities.
• Establish targets and hold management accountable for results.
• Determine department organization and delegation of authority; implement changes.
• Ensure capacity, staffing, and vehicle availability to support service expansions and contingencies.
• Lead safety programs and ensure corrective actions from incidents are closed.
