Job summary

Husson University seeks a seasoned Vice President for Finance to lead the university’s financial and accounting affairs, serving as Treasurer and a key corporate officer. The role reports to the President and participates in the President’s Cabinet, guiding strategy, risk, and fiduciary oversight.

The position requires a Master’s degree and at least seven years of senior financial leadership, with experience in budgeting, financial reporting, and federal grant funding.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree required.
• Minimum of seven (7) years of senior level experience as a financial and administrative executive required.
• Experience managing budgets and financial reporting (external and internal).
• Proven strategic leadership experience.
• Experience with grant and federal funding preferred.
• Higher Education experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Advise the President on university business and financial matters.
• Provide long-range financial projections and planning to assist in fiscal decisions.
• Responsible for timely and accurate university budget and financial statements.
• Partner with university leadership to identify strategic fiscal opportunities.
• Coordinate short-term and long-term financial planning strategies.
• Oversee procurement contracts.
• Ensure development and oversight of programs, policies, and internal controls.
• Staff the Finance, Auditing and Investment Committees and prepare Board documentation.
• Adhere to high ethical standards, compliance with laws and financial controls.
• Oversee audits, payroll, and retirement plan administration.
• Oversee grant funding and disbursements.
• Coordinate new debt issuance and compliance with agreements.
• Manage cash and endowment investments and banking relations.
• Supervise finance, accounting and financial staff.
• Coordinate revenue bond issuance and retirements.
• Support risk assessment and compliance as needed.
