Job summary

American Heart Association is seeking a Senior Director, Science and Medicine, Stroke and Brain Health Guidelines in Dallas, TX. The role provides strategic direction, oversight, and methodological excellence for the organization’s guideline portfolio, shaping patient care and clinical decision-making.

The Senior Director leads a multidisciplinary team, drives innovation in guideline development, living guidelines, and digital delivery while ensuring adherence to rigorous scientific standards

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in evidence-based medicine and guideline development, and scientific leadership.
• Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience managing professional staff, complex programs, or multidisciplinary teams.
• Demonstrated experience leading clinical practice guidelines, consensus statements, evidence reviews, or similar scientific initiatives.
• Strong expertise in evidence-based medicine, evidence synthesis, systematic reviews, and scientific publication processes.
• Experience managing complex portfolios, budgets, timelines, and stakeholder relationships.
• Proven ability to influence senior leaders, volunteer experts, and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction for the Stroke and Brain Health Guidelines portfolio from topic selection to dissemination.
• Oversee guideline lifecycle, including scope development, evidence review, production, publication and maintenance.
• Ensure scientific integrity, methodological rigor, and governance compliance across guideline products.
• Lead engagement with volunteer committees, physician leaders, researchers and stakeholders to drive consensus.
