About This Role

The Executive Director of Nursing Programs oversees and directs the daily operations, faculty, and staff of the RN programs, ensuring alignment with the college’s mission and school goals. The role requires strategic planning, program development, faculty recruitment, regulatory compliance, and budget management to maintain high standards of nursing education.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Dean to develop short‑term and long‑term strategic initiatives that support the college’s mission and provide quality educational programs.
  • Define, develop, implement, and monitor policies and procedures that support the nursing programs’ objectives.
  • Oversee curriculum design and assessment to ensure quality education and meet evolving nursing profession needs.
  • Determine course schedules and content, coordinate curriculum assessment, and develop new programs for effective four‑year transfer and career placement.
  • Develop articulation agreements with four‑year institutions, hospitals, and high schools to facilitate student transfer and tech‑prep partnerships.
  • Coordinate selection and ordering of textbooks, equipment, and instructional media; promote technology‑enabled pedagogy such as flipped classroom, clickers, case studies, and simulations.
  • Maintain and upgrade labs and computing equipment.
  • Assist in identifying and resolving student issues in a timely manner.
  • Recruit, hire, and develop faculty; provide supervision, orientation, mentoring, and performance evaluations, fostering career growth and tenure opportunities.
  • Manage systematic evaluation of all program aspects through collaboration with the Faculty Chair of the Systematic Plan of Evaluation.
  • Prepare accreditation reports and maintain documentation required by national accreditation agencies and the state board of nursing.
  • Ensure all regulatory standards are met.
  • Support grant development and proposal writing to secure program funding and new offerings.
  • Lead staff by providing guidance, training, and performance management; recommend staffing changes and distribute workload efficiently.
  • Secure clinical sites and contract agreements for student clinical experiences.
  • Promote nursing heritage and celebrate the profession during the academic year and through nurses’ week activities.
  • Assist in recruitment, publicity, and the development of the annual program budget.
  • Participate in policy development specific to nursing programs and maintain proficiency in regulatory issues.
  • Engage in professional and managerial development activities, staying current with educational trends and nursing regulations.
  • Serve as an active member of committees; represent the college externally with professionalism, integrity, and discretion.
Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Nursing with at least five years of teaching and relevant administrative experience in curriculum development and faculty oversight.
  • Experience working with culturally diverse populations and effectively communicating across varied beliefs and backgrounds.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of nursing curriculum and practice, program management, design, assessment, and administration.
  • Budgeting and fiscal management skills.
  • Conceptual thinking, policy development, and decision‑making abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, influence, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and collaborate with a wide range of constituencies.
  • Computer proficiency; bilingual ability preferred.
