About The Role

Provides strategic direction for the team of accomplished field-based Medical experts in effectively communicating Neurocrine science with and gaining relevant clinical insights from Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) in the relevant to the company assets field. Drives processes and partners with cross-functional leads to best understand the therapeutic and scientific landscapes of the therapeutic areas to strategically direct the Medical Science Liaison and Clinical Practice Liaison activities. Monitors the development of the relationship with the medical/scientific community including physicians and medical centers, by communicating product-related information to investigators and institutions. Develops and implements strategies to provide information on research developments, and new concepts in medical treatment, giving perspective to field activities associated with growing existing products, and bringing new products to market. This is a position with considerable travel requirements in managing teams across the US. There is also a strong preference for this position to be based out of our HQ in San Diego, CA.

Your Contributions (include, But Are Not Limited To)
  • Develop strategic plans and policies and authorize their implementation
  • Serve as the primary leadership conduit between the MSL and CPL teams and Clinical and Medical departments to ensure team has most current and relevant information to facilitate peer-to-peer KOL interactions
  • Drive final decisions on administrative and operational matters to ensure effective operations and achievement of objectives
  • Drive development and implementation of tactical initiatives through subordinate managers and/or employees
  • Anticipates factors that could impact Neurocrine's strategies and its position in the field. Provide innovative solutions and strategies
  • Demonstrate cross functional partnership to develop and execute the strategic plan for supporting Neurocrine data generation efforts including corporate Clinical Development programs, Phase IV Medical studies, HEOR activities, and investigator initiated studies
  • Work with cross-functional teams to develop the MSL, CPL plans of action for KOL engagement
  • Ensure ongoing field clinical insights are brought back to contribute shape product strategies, engaging professional societies and patient advocacy groups
  • Establish performance standards including MSL and CPL qualitative and quantitative metrics for activities across the clinical development and product commercialization continuums
  • Observe, coach, and mentor direct reports and identify training requirements necessary to maintain the highest levels of professional and technical acumen
Requirements
  • BS/BA degree and 17+ years of experience in CNS, neurology and/or psychiatry diseases and pharmaceuticals.
  • Demonstrated track record of recruiting, hiring, developing, and retaining a high performing field medical team and field medical leaders.
  • Experience with establishing high performance standards that include qualitative and quantitative metrics.
  • Experience in successfully working with corporate office cross functional teams to contribute to product strategy.
  • Experience with diseases and pharmaceuticals in Psychiatry preferred OR
  • Master's degree and 15+ years of related experience OR
  • PhD and 12+ years of related experience
  • Extensive previous leadership experience also required
  • Expert technical knowledge in Psychiatry and/or other areas of company assets
  • Expert knowledge of healthcare compliance requirements and regulatory trends that directly and indirectly impact field MSLs and CPLs
  • Proficiency in developing and managing Field Medical budgets
  • Acts as a "trusted advisor" across the company and may be recognized as an external expert
  • Provides strategy, vision and direction regarding issues that may have company-wide impact
  • Requires in-depth knowledge of the functional area, business strategies, and the company’s goals
  • Possesses industry-leading knowledge
  • Ability to apply advanced analytical thought and judgment
  • Strong leadership, coaching, employee development skills

Compensation

The annual base salary we reasonably expect to pay is $255,200.00-$369,600.00. Individual pay decisions depend on various factors, such as primary work location, complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus with a target of 35% of the earned base salary and eligibility to participate in our equity based long term incentive program. Benefits offered include a retirement savings plan (with company match), paid vacation, holiday and personal days, paid caregiver/parental and medical leave, and health benefits to include medical, prescription drug, dental and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans.
