Job summary

City of San Luis seeks a strategic Director of Parks & Recreation to lead the department’s broad array of programs, facilities, and services in San Luis, AZ. You will set goals, manage budgets, and guide partnerships with community organizations and City leadership.

The role requires a degree in Parks & Recreation Administration or related field and at least five years of senior experience in public recreation management. Residency and bilingual skills are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Parks & Recreation Administration or related field.
• Five (5) years of progressively responsible administrative and management experience in parks and recreation, or a related municipal/public sector environment.
• Experience coordinating city departments, governmental agencies, community organizations, and outside agencies.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement Department goals, objectives, policies, programs, and long-term strategic plans.
• Coordinate Department activities with City departments and outside agencies; support City Manager and City Council.
• Direct development and implementation of the Department's annual work plan and monitor programs and projects.
• Develop and administer the Department budget and forecast resource needs; oversee resource allocation.
• Select, train, supervise, and evaluate Department personnel; promote professional and efficient operations.
• Oversee operation, maintenance, renovation, and development of parks, facilities, and open spaces; participate in CIP projects.
