Job summary

AbbVie’s Allergan Aesthetics division in Irvine, CA, seeks an Executive Director of Engineering to lead multiple engineering teams delivering scalable backend platforms, data services, and data products aligned with business goals.

You will empower managers, shape roadmaps, ensure security and reliability, and partner with product, architecture, data, and security stakeholders to drive an ambitious engineering agenda.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field or equivalent practical experience.
• 10+ years of software engineering with backend & data focus.
• 4+ years in engineering leadership managing multiple teams.
• Proven track record building and scaling high-performing engineering organizations.
• Experience delivering production-grade applications with Python/JavaScript/TypeScript/Node.js.
• Experience designing scalable data APIs, microservices, data pipelines, and distributed systems.

Responsibilities

• Own delivery and outcomes across multiple engineering teams aligned to business priorities.
• Lead and develop engineering managers to grow their teams.
• Build a high-performing engineering organization with clear accountability and operating rhythms.
• Partner with product, architecture, data, security, and business stakeholders to set roadmaps.
• Oversee design, development, and operation of backend data services, APIs, and pipelines.
