Licensed for 582 beds, the network features over 25 locations across Tarrant County, with John Peter Smith Hospital a Level I Trauma Center, Tarrant County's only psychiatric emergency center, and the largest hospital-based family medical residency program in the nation. Acclaim Multispecialty Group is the medical practice group featuring over 300 providers serving JPS Health Network. Specialties range from primary care to general surgery and trauma. Description
The Executive Director is responsible for the overall organization, operation and direction of the assigned departments; responsible for providing quality service, positive patient satisfaction, fiscal accountability and identification of the departments’ performance expectations.
Typical Duties
- Ensures compliance with regulatory agencies.
- Develops programs that support excellence in nursing care for patient, improve customer/consumer satisfaction, and promote positive employee relations
- Represents department at internal and external institutional meetings and activities.
- Develops and supports a shared-governance environment; encourages and promotes cohesive teams.
- Collaborates with physicians for integrating input into department operations and goals.
- Visualizes and develops new services, techniques, and projects that contribute to continued growth of the department.
- Acts as a role model for Studer principles with patient care; works with Clinical Managers, physicians, staff and other hospital personnel to create and improve efforts.
- Makes rounds on patients, staff, visitors, and physicians on a random basis to assess their care and promote patient satisfaction and good public relations.
- Conducts and administers fiscal operations, including accounting, planning budgets, authorizing expenditures, establishing rates for services and coordinating financial reporting.
- Consults with medical, business and community groups to discuss service problems; responds to community needs, enhance public relations, coordinate activities and plans and promote health programs.
- Contributes to the overall operation and enhancement of the Hospital District’s image.
- Develops and implements organizational policies and procedures for the facility or department.
- Develops and maintains computerized record management systems to store and process data such as personal activities and information to produce reports.
- Develops instructional materials and conduct in-service and community-based educational programs.
- Develops or expands and implements medical programs or health services that promote research, rehabilitation and community health.
- Directs, supervises and evaluates work activities of medical, nursing, technical, clerical, service, maintenance and other personnel.
- Establishes objectives and evaluates operational criteria for department.
- Establishes work schedules and assignments for staff, according to workload, space and equipment availability.
- Establishes and administers both capital and operation budgets.
- Establishes and ensures compliance with accepted Standards of Practice/Care including consideration of age and developmental stage.
- 21. Maintains awareness of advance in medicine, computerized diagnostics and treatment equipment, data processing technology, governmental regulations, health insurance changes and financing options.
- Performs other job duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
- Master’s Degree in Nursing, Business, Healthcare Administration and/or Public Health from an accredited University
- 5 plus years’ experience in clinical nursing program development/management.
Required Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:
- Current licensure by the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas or proof of reciprocity of licensure between the State of Texas and another state.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Doctorate in Nursing Practice, PhD or equivalent degree from an accredited university.
Preferred Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:
- Certified in professional field – (Nurse Executive Certification).
