The Executive Director of Nursing Services is responsible and accountable for overseeing all nursing departments within UHealth at Doral. In collaboration with senior administration, nursing, and physician leadership, the Executive Director supports the vision of UHealth at Doral and promotes a nurturing and compassionate environment of personalized outpatient care.

They are accountable for ensuring that each nursing department is efficiently run by the department director regarding quality patient care, fiscal responsibility, and adherence to the 5 to Thrive Pillars of the University Health System.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Quality & Service:
  • Monitor nursing practice to ensure compliance with patient care, practice standards, and safety as part of ongoing performance improvement.
  • Develop work groups and steering committees to promote collaboration and change.
  • Establish and maintain a performance improvement framework to develop and implement ongoing programs to measure, improve, and sustain the quality of nursing care delivered to patients.
  • Serve as an advisor in developing unit-based standards to ensure uniformity of practice across units or areas, responding to practice trends and recommending changes.
  • Act as a consultant to staff in interpreting Joint Commission and other national standards, ensuring their integration into policies, procedures, standards of care, and practice involving nursing care.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Nursing Officer and leadership to develop, implement, and review/revise nursing and patient care policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Ensure nursing practice complies with all requirements of the Florida State Board of Nursing and other regulatory agencies.
  • Be responsible for personal development through attending classes, conferences, and related pursuits.
  • People:
    • Oversee the screening, interviewing, and hiring process for nursing positions.
    • Participate in university functions to demonstrate management's high value of staff contributions.
    • Maintain relationships with local, regional, and state organizations as needed.
    • Stay informed on professional and social issues related to healthcare.
    • Establish performance expectations, monitor performance, provide feedback, take corrective actions, and resolve conflicts.
    • Motivate and inspire employees to achieve departmental and organizational goals.
    • Identify educational needs within the organization.
    • Support and implement organizational decisions, policies, and procedures to staff and leadership.
    • Collaborate with nursing schools to identify and enhance clinical education programs.
  • Growth & Operations:
    • Set priorities for all areas under management. Prepare and administer budgets covering personnel, facilities, and resources.
    • Control expenses and initiate cost reductions without compromising quality.
    • Recommend policy changes to improve organizational effectiveness.
    • Propose practice changes to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
    • Manage resources in line with the mission and standards of the Lennar Foundation Medical Center.
    • Develop systems to ensure uniform nursing standards across the organization.
  • Education Requirements (Essential):
    • BSN from an accredited nursing school required; MSN preferred.
    • Florida Registered Nurse License required.
    • BLS certification from the American Heart Association required.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of seven (7) years of relevant nursing experience required.
