Based in San Francisco, the Executive Director will shape long-term strategy, oversee fundraising and earned revenue, and steward a growing global community of thinkers.

Qualifications

• Leadership experience within a mission-driven organization, cultural institution, company, or venture.
• Experience in budget responsibility, team leadership, and strategy development.
• Proven success in fundraising, including major gifts and partnerships.
• Strong relationship-building and board governance skills.
• Deep alignment with Long Now's mission and ideas.
• Public presence as a communicator, curator, host, or spokesperson.

Responsibilities

• Strategic Direction: shape a multi-year plan with the Board to set priorities and resource allocation.
• Board Partnership: manage the relationship with the Board Chair, Executive Committee, and full Board; recruit and cultivate directors.
• Team & Culture: lead the team, foster trust, and ensure systems and infrastructure for high performance.
• Fundraising: refresh and lead fundraising strategy; close leadership gifts of $100,000+ and develop partnerships.
• Earned Revenue: oversee growth in membership, venue rentals, and The Interval sales as managed by staff.
• Financial Stewardship: oversee cash flow, P&L, and budget vs. actuals.
