Job description

  • The Executive Director of Communications and Operations will create, direct and implement the district’s communication efforts to key stakeholders. This position oversees the district’s internal communications outreach, translation services, call center, and departmental operations.
  • Develop and implement a yearly comprehensive communication plan to keep all internal stakeholders informed and updated on issues that impact them and the district.
  • Direct and support the development of internal messaging and tactics for multiple campaigns to engage and inform staff districtwide through the internal communications director.
  • Oversee the implementation and management of campaigns promoting the district’s culture tenets and devise a yearly strategic plan to engage and inform employees and promote a positive culture among employees.
  • Oversee call center and translation services, monitor service trends and customer satisfaction, and use data and stakeholder feedback to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Research, identify, analyze, and utilize targeted strategies and platform analytics to reach audiences.
  • Develop and guide the budget and management of resources used to tell compelling stories and deliver engaging campaigns.
  • Supervise staff and manage multiple projects, including developing communication plans, work distribution and assignments, timelines, and product conception and timely delivery to support all departments and initiatives to build awareness with target internal audiences.
  • Collaborate with the external and marketing department staff for campaign alignment.
  • Oversee the department’s operations, including managing policy updates, assessing system deficiencies to improve efficiency, assisting with department goal setting, hiring, and improving customer service satisfaction.
  • Required Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Communications, Journalism, or Marketing
  • Preferred Master's degree from an accredited university.
  • Required 10+ years of directly related experience in Communications, preferably in a school district.
  • Proven ability to work well with others and build consensus across multiple divisions to deliver impactful campaigns and excellent customer service.
  • Proven experience with message development and dissemination.
  • Expertly skilled in social media tactics, trends, and analytics, and proven ability to grow the district’s internal outreach footprint and increase engagement with employees.
  • Experience in managing communications for a complex organization.
  • Detail-oriented and an excellent communicator with proven experience managing communications for a complex organization and managing tight deadlines.
  • Experience managing employees and maintain confidentiality with sensitive information.
  • Ability to adapt to and implement emerging forms of media.
  • Deep understanding and knowledge of the district, be an excellent writer and communicator, and proven experience in all forms of media.
