Qualifications

• Master’s Degree required from an accredited university in Physical Education, Sports Management, or related field.
• Texas teacher certificate with required endorsements for subject and level; PE endorsement or mid-management/principal certification.
• 5+ years of teaching and coaching experience.
• 2+ years of supervisory experience.
• Evidence of strong written and communication skills.
• Demonstrates ability to analyze facts and exercise sound judgment.

Description

• Ensure that each student is provided the opportunity to participate in an extracurricular athletic activity.
• Provide information about available sports to students and parents.
• Direct and oversee all district athletic program and centralized athletic complexes.
• Interpret and enforce UIL and district rules and regulations regarding interscholastic competition and eligibility.
• Develop a marketing plan to promote the Athletics Department.
• Prepare and administer operational budget to ensure the needs of all school athletic departments are met and the departments function within the prescribed budget.
• Develop systems and processes for eligibility, hiring, student injuries, coaching requirements, and other athletics related issues.
• Generate funding for the department and campuses through advertising space on scoreboards, facilities, etc.
• Directly involved in the selection, approval, and appointment of Campus Athletic Coordinators
• Work closely with the Department of Human Resources and the campus administrators to ensure that all coaching vacancies are filled with highly qualified individuals.
• Prepare departmental press releases for game programs and handle all relationships and information requests from members of local, regional, and national media.
• Coordinate and negotiate contracts with radio stations and other media to ensure that athletic events are publicized in the local market.
• Maintain an active athletic program that promotes good sportsmanship and student development; ensure that student progress is evaluated on a regular, systematic basis, and the findings are used to make the athletic program more effective.
• Oversee the preparation and approval of all interscholastic game schedules, transportation, lodging, meals for out-of-town athletic events, management of district athletic events including ticket sales, employing game officials and stadium workers, ensuring preparation of facilities, process of reconditioning and repairing of athletic equipment where applicable.
• Coordinate the approval and use of all central athletic facilities by Dallas ISD Schools and the availability and use of all central athletic facilities by non-school groups in collaboration with the District Real Estate Department.
• Facilitate and encourage community and parent involvement in athletic activities.
• Collaborate with other district departments on related issues, such as transfers, enrollment, etc.
• Manage central athletic staff for effectiveness and efficiency.
• Create all documents related to athletics with a professional format.
• Develop and implement department plan of action.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree required from an accredited university in Physical Education, Sports Management, or a directly related field.
• Valid Texas Teacher Certificate with required endorsements for subject and subject level assigned; physical education endorsement or endorsement or mid-management/principal certification.
• 5+ years of direct experience in Teaching and Coaching experience required.
• 2+ years of supervisory experience required.
• Evidence of strong written and communication skills
• Demonstrates ability to analyze facts and exercise sound judgment in arriving at conclusions.
