Job summary

King County Bar Association seeks an Executive Director for the Housing Justice Project, leading a 42-person team delivering eviction defense and systemic reform through policy advocacy. The ED will guide transition to an independent nonprofit, steward fundraising, and build partnerships with funders and government officials.

The role requires nonprofit leadership, strong governance experience, media relations, and a commitment to equity.

Qualifications

• Five years’ experience in management or administration, including staff leadership and budget oversight.
• Experience in all phases of development: foundation/institutional fundraising and donor solicitation.
• Strong verbal and written communication with diverse groups, media experience a plus.
• Experience with media relations, press releases, and public messaging.
• Ability to analyze information quickly and work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Sustain and grow strategic partnerships and act as the organization’s public face.
• Implement anti-racist, pro-equity practices across operations.
• Foster relationships with the employees’ union and manage collective bargaining interactions.
• Recruit Board members and volunteers with diverse backgrounds.
• Provide fiscal oversight, budgeting, and audit readiness.
• Oversee resource development, fundraising programs, and grant activities.
• Lead recruitment, hiring, retention, and staff development systems.
• Serve as chief spokesperson to public and media.
• Promote access to justice for historically underserved communities.
• Act as primary liaison with donors, staff, board, and partners.
