Job summary

Wings Over America Scholarship Foundation in Virginia Beach area seeks an Executive Director who can lead fundraising, financial administration, partnerships, communications, and daily operations.

You will work closely with the Board of Directors and Scholarship Administrator, building donor relationships, guiding events, and growing the organization’s impact for Navy aviation families.

Qualifications

• Leadership experience in nonprofit organizations or similar mission-driven settings.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
• Experience building donor relationships and supporting fundraising efforts.
• Experience with budgets and financial administration including recordkeeping and payments oversight.
• Knowledge of fundraising principles and event planning.
• Clear writing, good judgment, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Ability to plan ahead and handle day-to-day operations of a small organization.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft 365; CRM systems & donation platforms experience.
• Experience updating website content via a CMS; content for social media.
• Commitment to our mission and respect for Navy aviation families.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Board to prepare for meetings and execute decisions.
• Manage budget, daily financial records, and payments in QuickBooks.
• Build relationships with corporate partners, sponsors, and donors and lead fundraising events.
• Maintain donor records, write acknowledgments, and stay in touch with supporters.
• Partner with Scholarship Administrator on recipient communications and payments.
• Tell WOASF’s story via email, social media, and print materials; engage Navy community.
• Update website content to keep scholarship and event information current.
• Welcome volunteers and coordinate daily operations and inquiries.
