Job summary

MercyOne Northeast Iowa in Waterloo, IA, is seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible Family Medicine physician to serve as Program Director for our ACGME-accredited Family Medicine Residency Program in Waterloo, Iowa. This well-established program has evolved into a 5-5-5 model and seeks a visionary leader to guide growth and excellence in graduate medical education.

The role combines clinical leadership, teaching, and program development with a collaborative faculty team dedicated to teaching

Qualifications

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine.
• Minimum 3 years of clinical Family Medicine experience and/or service as core faculty in an ACGME-accredited Family Medicine residency program.
• Inpatient and administrative experience preferred.
• Must meet all pre-employment requirements, including EOE and drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee a 5-5-5 Family Medicine Residency Program with seasoned core faculty.
• Provide strategic leadership for continued program development and expansion.
• Actively teach residents in the ambulatory clinical setting.
• Oversee resident education, evaluations, and performance outcomes.
• Inpatient medicine and OB involvement optional.
• Office call 1:4, supported by nurse triage.
• No hospital call.
• Lead 1–4 program-wide quality improvement projects annually.
• Deliver 10–12 didactic lectures per year across a variety of topics.
