Job summary

FinOps Weekly is seeking an Executive Director of DevOps & Platform Engineering to shape and operationalize a high-performance engineering platform. You will lead DevOps, platform tooling, and AI-enabled workflows, driving cost optimization and reliability at scale.

You will partner with IT Operations and Engineering leadership to set standards, improve developer experience, and align platform strategy with enterprise goals. This is a senior, hands-on leadership role in a fast-moving environment.

Qualifications

  • Senior-level leadership experience in DevOps, platform engineering or infrastructure engineering with a builder-operator mindset.
  • Experience owning and scaling CI/CD platforms, infrastructure automation, and developer tooling ecosystems.
  • Proven ability to define and operationalize engineering metrics, telemetry, and performance scorecards.

Responsibilities

  • Own and evolve the DevOps strategy, including platform reliability and release enablement.
  • Lead development tooling strategy and governance (CI/CD toolchains, internal productivity tools).
  • Define engineering performance metrics and telemetry (DORA, SLOs, SLAs).
  • Drive FinOps and cloud cost optimization initiatives across engineering teams.
  • Build and scale observability dashboards for cost, performance, and delivery health.
  • Improve developer experience through automation and self-service workflows.

This senior leadership role is responsible for shaping and operationalizing a high-performance engineering platform that enables scalable, reliable, and efficient software delivery across the organization. You will lead DevOps, platform engineering, developer tooling, and cloud cost optimization initiatives, ensuring engineering teams are equipped with modern, automated, and intelligent systems. The role sits at the intersection of technology leadership and execution, driving improvements in velocity, reliability, and cost efficiency. You will partner closely with IT Operations and Engineering leadership to establish standards, improve developer experience, and embed AI-driven capabilities into the software development lifecycle. This is a highly strategic and hands-on position where you will define how engineering teams build, release, and operate software at scale. The environment is fast-moving, transformation-focused, and centered on continuous improvement and measurable outcomes. Accountabilities Own and evolve the DevOps strategy, including platform reliability, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, release automation, and deployment enablement. Lead development tooling strategy and governance, including platforms such as JIRA, Jellyfish, CI/CD toolchains, and internal productivity and AI-enabled engineering tools. Define and implement engineering performance metrics and telemetry (e.g., DORA metrics, SLOs, SLAs, reliability, and delivery performance dashboards). Drive FinOps and cloud cost optimization initiatives, including usage optimization, infrastructure right-sizing, and cost transparency across engineering teams. Build and scale engineering dashboards and observability systems to provide real-time insights into cost, performance, and delivery health. Standardize engineering processes across squads, including SDLC practices, release management, quality gates, and change control frameworks. Improve developer experience by reducing friction through automation, self-service capabilities, and streamlined onboarding and deployment workflows. Operationalize AI across the software development lifecycle, including AI-assisted coding tools and intelligent workflow integration with governance controls. Partner with IT Operations, IT Development, and cross-functional leaders to align platform strategy with enterprise goals and ensure operational excellence. Requirements Senior-level leadership experience in DevOps, Platform Engineering, or Infrastructure Engineering roles with a strong builder-operator mindset. Proven experience owning and scaling CI/CD platforms, infrastructure automation, and developer tooling ecosystems. Strong background in engineering tools such as JIRA, engineering analytics platforms (e.g., Jellyfish), and internal productivity systems. Demonstrated experience implementing AI-enabled development workflows with measurable adoption and governance practices. Strong expertise in cloud infrastructure and FinOps practices, including cost optimization, visibility, and accountability frameworks. Experience defining and operationalizing engineering metrics, telemetry, and performance scorecards to drive decision-making. Strong ability to influence across IT Operations, Engineering, and leadership teams in complex organizational environments. Proven track record of improving engineering velocity, reliability, and operational efficiency at scale. Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to drive alignment across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
