Job summary

Public Assets Institute in Vermont seeks an Executive Director to advance equity through data-driven policy, budget, and economic analysis. The ED leads strategy, operations, fundraising, and external relationships with policymakers, funders, and communities.

Qualifications

  • Ten or more years of experience working on social and economic policy issues with an emphasis on data‑driven research, policy, and advocacy.
  • Five years of experience managing personnel and financial affairs of a department or organization of similar or greater size.
  • Ability to guide organizational and policy strategy and to share a compelling vision and complex information and data to various audiences.
  • Commitment to Public Assets’ values of racial justice, equity, and inclusion and to Vermont’s most vulnerable communities.
  • Ability and willingness to fundraise from foundations and individual donors.
  • Effective relationship builder and collaborator with legislators, funders, partners, and community leaders.
  • Familiarity with the Vermont policy landscape.
  • Management style grounded in collaboration, trust, and flexibility.

Responsibilities

  • Champion data-driven tax, budget, and economic policy for equity and policy impact.
  • Articulate policy insights to policymakers, funders, the media, and the public.
  • Set organizational vision and strategy with the Board and staff, ensuring nimble responses to external trends.
  • Strengthen financial sustainability through relationships with donors and funders.
  • Lead a dedicated team and foster a high‑trust, collaborative culture.
