Job summary

Austin Outside (AO) is seeking its first Executive Director to lead strategic planning and day‑to‑day operations for a Better Austin outdoors. The role emphasizes building credibility, growth in membership, and financial sustainability while working closely with the Board of Directors.

The ED will drive fundraising, partnerships, governance, and community engagement, with a strong emphasis on transparent leadership and inclusive programs in the Greater Austin area.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in a senior leadership role in a nonprofit context preferred.
• Experience raising funds from philanthropy, investments, and public sources.
• Ability to lead diverse groups and collaborate across levels.

Responsibilities

• Set and execute AO's long‑term vision and strategic plan with the Board.
• Lead fundraising, donor cultivation, sponsorships, and campaigns.
• Oversee budgeting, financial controls, and audits for sustainability.
• Represent AO publicly and manage partnerships and governance.
• Foster an inclusive, member‑focused culture and community trust.
