Job summary

Poughkeepsie City School District is seeking an Executive Director of Physical Education, Health Services, Athletics and Recreation. This senior administrator will oversee K-12 PE, health services, interscholastic athletics, and recreation, guiding curriculum, data-informed planning, and staff supervision.

The role requires NYS PE and SDA/SDL credentials and a Master’s degree; seven years in K-12 education with leadership experience is expected.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree and NYS PE certificate plus SDA/SDL certification by appointment.
• Minimum seven years of K-12 experience (3 admin, 4 as teacher).
• Experience in urban districts with diverse student populations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership to the Athletics department aligned to four goals: higher achievement, facilities, competitive program, strong coaching.
• Evaluate and lead the school district’s extracurricular athletics program.
• Develop athletic program policies and the athletics handbook.
• Prepare and manage department budget including salaries, travel, equipment and facilities.
• Hire, supervise, and evaluate coaching staff; manage staff discipline.
