We are seeking an experienced, compassionate, and results-driven Executive Director to lead the day-to-day operations of our Assisted Living and Memory Care community. The Executive Director is responsible for creating a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment where residents receive exceptional care and team members feel valued, supported, and empowered to succeed.
This is a highly visible leadership position for someone who understands that senior living is more than a business—it is a commitment to residents and their families. The ideal candidate combines strong operational and financial skills with genuine compassion, excellent communication, and a passion for serving older adults.
Provide overall leadership and direction for the community's daily operations.
Establish a culture centered on resident dignity, safety, choice, and quality of life.
Maintain a strong presence throughout the community and build meaningful relationships with residents, families, and employees.
Ensure the community operates in accordance with company policies, applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
Partner with department leaders to establish goals, monitor performance, and drive continuous improvement.
Respond effectively and professionally to resident, family, employee, and operational concerns.
Oversee the delivery of high-quality Assisted Living and Memory Care services.
Ensure residents receive individualized care consistent with their needs, preferences, service plans, and rights.
Promote person-centered dementia care practices and a supportive environment for residents living with memory impairment.
Monitor resident satisfaction, quality indicators, incidents, complaints, and corrective actions.
Work closely with families and responsible parties to maintain open communication and confidence in the community.
Ensure appropriate coordination with physicians, healthcare providers, pharmacies, hospitals, and other outside partners.
Recruit, hire, onboard, coach, develop, and retain high-performing team members.
Create clear expectations and hold leaders and employees accountable for performance.
Foster a positive, respectful, team-oriented workplace culture.
Ensure appropriate staffing levels and scheduling to meet resident needs and operational requirements.
Conduct regular leadership meetings, employee meetings, performance reviews, and coaching conversations.
Recognize employee accomplishments and create opportunities for professional development.
Address employee relations matters fairly, consistently, and in accordance with company policies.
Maintain compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations governing Assisted Living and Memory Care operations.
Prepare the community for regulatory inspections, audits, licensing reviews, and surveys.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation and ensure required records are complete.
Oversee incident reporting, investigation, follow-up, and corrective action.
Promote a strong culture of safety, infection prevention, emergency preparedness, and risk management.
Manage the community within established operating and financial goals.
Monitor revenue, expenses, labor costs, purchasing, and departmental budgets.
Partner with ownership or regional leadership to develop and execute strategies for financial performance.
Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency without compromising resident care or employee experience.
Support occupancy growth and resident retention initiatives.
Serve as a primary ambassador for the community.
Build strong relationships with prospective residents, families, referral partners, healthcare professionals, and community organizations.
Partner with the sales and marketing team to support tours, move-ins, and occupancy goals.
Participate in community events, networking opportunities, and outreach activities.
Ensure prospective residents and families receive an exceptional experience from their first interaction with the community.
Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Gerontology, or a related field preferred.
Previous leadership experience in Assisted Living, Memory Care, Skilled Nursing, Senior Living, Healthcare, or a related environment.
Demonstrated experience managing people, operations, budgets, and regulatory compliance.
Strong understanding of senior living operations and resident-centered care.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
Ability to lead with empathy while maintaining accountability and operational discipline.
Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Must meet all licensing and regulatory requirements applicable to the position and community.
