Job summary

Theater Mu seeks its next Managing Director to lead administrative operations, ensure financial sustainability, and guide fundraising, grants and marketing. The role works closely with the artistic director and board, shaping Theater Mu’s 2026–2029 strategy and staff development.

With 5+ years in nonprofit or performing arts leadership, you will steward budgets, governance, and donor relations while championing Theater Mu’s mission and community impact in the Midwest.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or operational management (or closely related field).
  • Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience within a nonprofit or performing arts organization.
  • Demonstrated success in donor cultivation with individuals, foundations and organizations.
  • Experience with nonprofit governance and compliance under Minnesota law.
  • Strong knowledge of financial management software: Bill.com, Gusto, PatronManager/Salesforce, QuickBooks or similar.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace and related collaboration tools.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee administrative operations and financial sustainability.
  • Lead fundraising, grants management and marketing efforts.
  • Provide organizational leadership as Theater Mu advances its 2026–2029 strategic cycle.
  • Supervise staff in partnership with the artistic director and board.
