Greater Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania|Full-Time|Hybrid, with Regional and Statewide Travel
Offices are located at the Jewish Community Center of Greater Pittsburgh's Squirrel Hill location.
Our Mission
Age-Friendly Greater Pittsburgh (AFGP) is dedicated to making our region more inclusive and respectful of all ages through collaboration that centers on the person and the community. Our mission is to bring generations together to reimagine how our neighborhoods are built and to advance equity through advocacy, education, and innovation. We seek to create and celebrate a region that's more accessible and welcoming as we recognize it is better for older people — and better for everyone.
Why Age-Friendly Greater Pittsburgh?
Age-Friendly Greater Pittsburgh (AFGP) is seeking an entrepreneurial, mission-driven, and relationship-oriented Executive Director to lead a growing regional initiative dedicated to making Pittsburgh and Pennsylvania communities more welcoming, inclusive, and supportive of older adults.
This is a pivotal moment. Southwestern PA is the second oldest region in the country, and AFGP is an early adopter and partner in Age-Friendly work nationally and internationally. Having completed two full five-year cycles of the Age-Friendly framework, AFGP is now planning its third, a milestone few communities have reached. Our credibility spans inclusive-community consulting, civic engagement, employment access, anti-ageism education, and statewide replication, organized in three pillars: Economic and Community Development, Narrative Change, and Resident Advocacy. Each has early traction, committed partners, and the potential to generate ongoing resources.
Our collaborative model is anchored by two lead partners, the Southwestern Pennsylvania Partnership for Aging (SWPPA) and the University of Pittsburgh School of Social Work, who serve on a Steering Committee that provides strategic guidance to the Executive Director.
As Executive Director, you will be AFGP’s chief strategist, external ambassador, and operational leader. Working with the Steering Committee, staff, funders, and community, you will help shape the next five-year plan, standardize program models, formalize a funding strategy, and position AFGP as the go-to regional and statewide resource on age-friendly practice. If you are energized by building on an exciting foundation and championing the dignity and contributions of older adults, we invite you to apply.
