Job summary

Eli Lilly and Company seeks an Executive Director, Aesthetic Health External Innovation, to identify and evaluate external programs in aesthetic medicine. You will license or acquire transformative assets and coordinate with corporate BD, strategy, and discovery colleagues to advance Lilly’s aesthetic health strategy.

The role requires deep mechanistic knowledge of cutaneous biology, hair biology, and related modalities, with a track record in external collaboration and deal execution.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Dermatology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Cutaneous Biology, or a related field; M.D. with specialization in Dermatology, Plastic Surgery, or related field
• 10+ years of relevant experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry, with demonstrated expertise across the drug discovery and development lifecycle.
• Proven track record in external innovation, search and evaluation, and/or business development within dermatology, aesthetic medicine, or an adjacent therapeutic area.
• Deep mechanistic understanding of cutaneous biology, skin aging, and/or hair follicle biology, including familiarity with emerging therapeutic modalities and local delivery approaches.
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex scientific collaborations across organizational boundaries.
• Strong strategic thinking capabilities with the ability to assess scientific merit and commercial potential of early-stage opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Source, identify, and coordinate evaluation of innovative external assets for Aesthetic Health, spanning modalities.
• Drive deals to completion and align internal stakeholders to close transactions.
• Build long-term trusted relationships and represent Lilly Aesthetic Health with external partners.
• Actively engage and examine the global innovation ecosystem for partnering, licensing, and acquisition possibilities.
• Lead interactions with external organizations; represent Lilly's strategy to partners with clarity.
• Execute key projects with external groups, designing de-risking experiments to accelerate decisions.
• Map the external landscape; cultivate relationships in emerging aesthetic categories and technologies.
• Coordinate with affiliates to avoid duplication and ensure consistent communication to leadership.
• Conduct rigorous analyses to support prioritization and indication planning decisions.

Education
