Job summary

Michigan MILA, a Michigan Instructional Leadership Association, seeks an Executive Director (Chief Executive Officer) to lead and represent MILA. This part-time role centers on advancing curriculum leadership, building partnerships, and coordinating statewide professional learning initiatives.

The Executive Director reports to the MILA Executive Board and liaises with state and national education organizations.

Qualifications

• Deep knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
• Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to build relationships.
• Experience in School Leadership.
• Ability to motivate and lead others.
• Experience in coordinating small and large scale projects or programs.
• Experience with budget development, implementation and monitoring.
• Experience with organizing professional learning for adults.

Responsibilities

• Seek and secure organizational sponsorships.
• Coordinate, and facilitate with the Board, a comprehensive professional learning plan and execute it statewide.
• Create and maintain partnerships to advance teaching and learning in Michigan, including collaboration with MILA, MDE, MEMSPA, MAC, MACUL, and others.
• Assist in MILA operations, staff, and implementation of bylaws.
• Assist in annual budget preparation.
• Support communications highlighting MILA initiatives statewide and regionally, including MILA’s quarterly newsletter.
• Coordinate the annual MILA Whole Child Award program.
• Provide leadership and coordination of the Curriculum Leaders Institute (CLI) as primary program facilitator and point of contact.

The Executive Director (Chief Executive Officer) of the Michigan Instructional Leadership Association (MILA) communicates the mission, beliefs, and goals of MILA and serves as the primary liaison for the State organization to its membership, the National ASCD, other state organizations/associations, private consultants, schools districts and vendors. The Executive Director shall be responsible to the MILA Executive Board and reports to the president of the Board.

Primary duties include but are not limited to:

• Seek and secure organizational sponsorships
• Coordinate, and facilitate in collaboration with the Board, a comprehensive professional learning plan, special projects, and execute them throughout the state
• Create and maintain meaningful partnerships which move forward quality teaching and learning for Michigan’s students, including collaboration with organizations such as MDE, MEMSPA, MAC, MACUL, and more.
• Assist in the management of MILA operations, staff, and implementation of bylaws
• Assist in the preparation of annual budget
• Support communication for the purpose of highlighting MILA initiatives statewide and regionally, including coordinating MILA’s quarterly newsletter and other organizational communications.
• Coordinate the annual MILA Whole Child Award program.
• Provide overall leadership and coordination of the Curriculum Leaders Institute (CLI), functioning as the primary program facilitator and point of contact for participants.
