We're looking for an experienced Executive Director to manage and provide strategic leadership for two large dynamic medical organizations. We need someone skilled at working with volunteer boards, strategizing and translating ideas into actionable initiatives. We need a great communicator, experienced at multi-tasking and able to provide the association membership with dedicated follow-up and personalized customer service. Essential Job Functions
- Leadership: Provides visionary leadership for the association and demonstrates the ability to handle multiple responsibilities in directing the operations of the association in accordance with the bylaws, mission statement, strategic plan, and policies and procedures established by the association. Works with the Board to ensure the strategic plan is up to date. Coordinates annual elections to ensure successful succession and leadership pipeline.
- Operations: Responsible for the effective operation of the association, advising and making recommendations to the Board of Directors, and ensuring the decisions and policies adopted by the Board are fulfilled. Provides consultation regarding fiscal, legal, and contractual responsibilities. Provides budget and finance development oversight and management. Works closely with the Board to develop opportunities for generating revenue streams for the association. Attends all Board and Executive Committee meetings and prepares agendas and minutes. Monitors and ensures a high level of customer service in all departments. Maintains annual timeline and dashboard.
- Awards: Oversee awards program including nominations, award selection and publicity for winners.
- Membership: Attends membership committee meetings; manages all member campaigns; runs membership reports; reviews membership applications; handles new member onboarding; replies to inquiries; creates and implements efforts to increase and retain membership base, including creating and developing an effective outreach program to international members.
- Education: Oversees the creation and delivery of high-quality educational programming for the annual conference and other in-person education and the management of online educational efforts. Liaises with committee chair and the Association's Programs Manager and Meetings Director.
- Conference and Meetings Management: Oversees all conference and educational efforts and meetings management in collaboration with the Meetings Director; assists with creating conference marketing materials and provides registration and logistical support, as needed; promotes and sets up regional events and Capitol Summit; handles accreditation approval process for continuing medical education credits; replies to inquiries.
- Sponsorship: Responsible for all sponsor and exhibitor procurement and tracking; handles sponsorship and exhibitor communications; reviews and updates prospectus; provides an onsite point of contact for exhibitors/sponsors.
- Communications: Together with Meetings/Communications Director, produces high-quality email and other marketing materials for membership, conference, and all other promotions. Creates editorial timelines, content review, and content management systems for client newsletters, targeting appropriate audiences and distributes publications. Develops appropriate website content and creates and implements social media campaigns. Liaises with committee chair; generates reports and metrics to assess impact. Ensures a coordinated marketing effort. Supervises media and public relations activities.
- Database and Website Management: Oversees the creation, maintenance, and accuracy of member databases. Ensures website is updated with accurate, timely information.
- Any other duties or projects as requested. Some travel required (3-4 weeks). Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Skills/Requirements
Must:
- Have at least three years’ experience working with non-profit organizations at a senior management level
- Bachelor’s Degree required; CAE preferred
- Have dynamic leadership and supervisory skills; open to continuous evolution both personally and professionally
- Handle multiple client demands and contribute to ongoing systems development and suggest improvements
- Demonstrate creative, flexible and sound analytical skills in complex problem-solving situations
- Have demonstrated work ethic, great communication skills (both written and spoken)
- Enjoy being thoroughly organized; have excellent attention to detail; be a self-starter in a fast-paced environment
