Job summary

Parents Attentive to Children (PATCH) Hawaii is seeking its next Executive Director to lead a trusted statewide nonprofit that has supported Hawaii’s families, child care providers, and early childhood community for nearly five decades.

The Executive Director will provide leadership across the organization’s people, programs, operations, partnerships, and financial sustainability while strengthening PATCH’s role within Hawaiʻi’s evolving early childhood system.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Education, Human Services, Social Work, Public Administration, Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of seven years of progressively responsible leadership experience, including at least five years in management or senior leadership with responsibility for leading and developing managers, professional staff, programs, or multidisciplinary teams.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in early childhood education, childcare, human services, education, nonprofit, community-based, or a closely related setting, including oversight of operations, budgets, contracts, grants, performance outcomes, and organizational resources.
• Demonstrated experience providing strategic and organizational leadership, including strategic planning, organizational change, workforce development, program growth, system improvement, and building effective partnerships with government agencies, funders, educational institutions, community organizations, and other key stakeholders.
• Experience working with Hawaiʻi state agencies and partners is highly desired.

Parents Attentive to Children (PATCH) Hawaii is seeking its next Executive Director to lead a trusted statewide organization that has supported Hawaii’s families, child care providers, and early childhood community for nearly five decades.

This is an opportunity for a strategic, relationship-centered leader who can honor PATCH’s strong foundation while helping shape what comes next. The Executive Director will provide leadership across the organization’s people, programs, operations, partnerships, and financial sustainability while strengthening PATCH’s role within Hawaiʻi’s evolving early childhood system.

The ideal candidate will bring senior-level leadership experience, strong organizational and operational judgment, and the ability to build trusted relationships across government, community, education, philanthropy, providers, and other partners. Knowledge of Hawaiʻi’s early childhood landscape is highly desired.

Education / Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Education, Human Services, Social Work, Public Administration, Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible leadership experience, including at least five (5) years in management or senior leadership with responsibility for leading and developing managers, professional staff, programs, or multidisciplinary teams.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in early childhood education, childcare, human services, education, nonprofit, community-based, or a closely related setting, including oversight of operations, budgets, contracts, grants, performance outcomes, and organizational resources. Knowledge of Hawaiʻi’s early childhood education and childcare system is highly desired.
• Demonstrated experience providing strategic and organizational leadership, including strategic planning, organizational change, workforce development, program growth, system improvement, and building effective partnerships with government agencies, funders, educational institutions, community organizations, and other key stakeholders. Experience working with Hawaiʻi state agencies and partners is highly desired.
• Experience working with a governing board or similar governance structure and providing executive-level organizational reporting is preferred.
• Daily access to a vehicle, a current driver’s license, and proof of current No-Fault Vehicle Insurance are required.
