Job summary

The City of San José, through its Mineta International Airport (SJC), is seeking a Deputy Director of Planning and Development to lead a team of 25 FTEs focused on delivering complex capital projects within the Airport Capital Development Program.

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Aviation, this role coordinates with FAA, maintains the ALP, and ensures CEQA/NEPA compliance while managing environmental programs and stakeholder engagement across divisions and partners.

Qualifications

• Six years of increasingly responsible experience in senior level administrative and/or analytic work in a public or private agency.
• Possession of a valid California driver’s license or equivalent may be required.

Responsibilities

• Airport Executive Manager for all major capital development projects and negotiates with consultants and contractors.
• Leads stakeholder engagement with airport divisions, business partners, regulatory agencies and City departments.
• Coordinates with FAA to secure airports funding and maintain the Airport Layout Plan (ALP).
• Oversees the Airport Master Plan and compliance with CEQA and NEPA, FAA standards and environmental requirements.
