Job summary

Delta Dental of Iowa seeks a Vice President, Dental Director to lead clinical policy, improve oral health outcomes, and strengthen relationships across the dental profession. This executive role drives evidence-based policy, guides benefit reviews, and represents the organization with providers and agencies in Iowa and beyond.

The role requires D.D.S./D.M.D., Iowa licensure or willingness, and a demonstrated ability to lead teams, analyze data, and travel as needed.

Qualifications

  • DDS/DMD from an accredited college of dentistry.
  • State licensure in Iowa or willingness to obtain.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, including public speaking.
  • Evidence-based dentistry knowledge, disease management, and underserved populations.
  • Ability to interpret data and contribute to organizational decisions.
  • Experience with dental quality assurance and outcomes monitoring.
  • Proven ability to lead, coach and train teams.
  • Willingness to travel up to 50% and travel independently.

Responsibilities

  • Identify emerging technologies and trends and advise the organization.
  • Review data and determine payment policy and clinical appropriateness.
  • Provide policy direction for clinical processing and credentialing standards.
  • Oversee quality assurance with metrics and improvement processes.
  • Offer guidance in government administration and contracting.
  • Lead and collaborate with internal/external stakeholders to adopt risk-based benefits.
  • Partner with Professional Relations on network recruitment, credentialing and fraud matters.
  • Represent DDIA publicly as a spokesperson for value-based dental care.
  • Train dental consultants and calibrate adjudication of claims
  • Act as liaison to Iowa Dental Association and other key stakeholders.
  • Represent DDIA in research, science, and health policy discussions.
