Job summary

Dakota State University seeks a Dean for the School of Arts and Sciences to provide strategic leadership and oversee academic programs, assessment, and budgeting. The Dean will collaborate with chairs and directors, supervise faculty and staff, and engage in fundraising and program development.

The role includes teaching duties as appropriate, serving on committees, and representing the School to university and community partners while advancing the university’s strategic plan.

Qualifications

• Doctorate in an Arts or Science discipline is required.
• Significant experience in higher education administration is preferred.
• Experience with accreditation processes and program assessment is essential.
• Ability to recruit, develop and retain faculty and staff.
• Strong budgeting, planning and governance skills are expected.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and strategic direction for the School of Arts and Sciences.
• Oversee program quality, curriculum assessment, and accreditation readiness.
• Manage budgets, schedules, and personnel; supervise and evaluate staff.
• Foster fundraising, grants and new program development.
• Represent the School and University to internal and external stakeholders.
