The premier early childhood education program in Chicago (South Loop), IL, is seeking a motivated self-starter for the Director’s position at our new school. Candidates should hold a bachelor’s degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field, along with management experience in a licensed childcare center or preschool. Strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and a good understanding of age-appropriate activities for young children are essential.

This preschool is renowned for its Piaget (Learning through Play) based foundation and active learning approach. As a leader in the franchised preschool industry, it emphasizes health and safety standards and aims to develop a lifelong love of learning. The faculty comprises caring, dedicated teachers who understand each child's needs, utilizing creativity and state-specific learning outcomes to craft engaging, imaginative lessons.

The ideal Director has strong leadership qualities, excellent communication skills, and can motivate and inspire staff and families.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversee preschool operations including human resources, health & safety, programming, and facility management
  • Develop strong relationships with staff and families
  • Manage budgets
  • Ensure compliance with state child care licensing regulations
  • Maintain a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment
  • Exhibit organizational, time management, and multitasking skills
  • Demonstrate a genuine love for children and a commitment to education
  • Manage staff relationships, including reviews, trainings, payroll, scheduling, conflict resolution, coaching, and mentoring
  • Lead school celebrations, multicultural activities, community engagement, and decorations
  • Engage staff and families through newsletters, social media, events, and trainings
  • Review and assist with lesson planning, ensuring timely implementation and communication
  • Work towards school accreditations and understand special needs requirements
  • Coordinate with franchisor resources and handle reporting and documentation
  • Oversee staff professional development and inventory management

Qualifications:
  • BA or BS Degree in Early or Elementary Education, Child Development, or a related field
  • 21 credits in early childhood education as required by IL
  • Prior managerial experience in a preschool setting
