Job summary

The University of Kansas Health System is seeking a Director of Claims & Senior Counsel in Olathe to lead the claims program and partner with the General Counsel on risk management across all campuses. This role drives litigation strategy, regulatory compliance, and patient-safety initiatives in a large, multi-site health system.

Ideal candidates have extensive healthcare claims experience, strong legal background, and the ability to influence senior leadership on risk reduction and policy

Qualifications

• 5+ years as a claims manager in a healthcare environment or medical professional liability context
• Juris Doctor degree and active law license preferred in KS/MO

Responsibilities

• Report, respond to, review, and resolve claims in accordance with the CRP.
• Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, Clinical Risk, and Regulatory leadership.
• Present claims to committees and assist with defense strategy.
• Provide guidance on licensure, credentialing, and patient communications.
• Review policies, investigate claims, and support risk mitigation actions.
