Job summary

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
  • Current admission to the Louisiana State Bar and eligibility to practice law in Louisiana.

Responsibilities

  • Directs operations, personnel, workload, and legal work of the Civil Division.
  • Supervises attorneys, section chiefs, paralegals, and support staff and establishes Division priorities and assignments.
  • Oversees legal representation and advice provided to state officials, agencies, boards, commissions, and other governmental entities.
  • Provides strategic direction on significant, complex, and sensitive civil matters.
  • Oversees matters involving governmental law, Attorney General opinions, public finance and contracts, environmental law, and state lands and natural resources.
  • Represents the Department at meetings, conferences, legislative proceedings, and other official functions.
  • Performs other duties and special assignments as directed.
