Job Description

The Commis Chef is responsible for cooking and preparing food according to recipes and production guidelines while adhering to food safety, food handling, and sanitation procedures. The individual should safely handle knives and equipment such as grills, fryers, ovens, broilers, etc. The Lead Chef may oversee or delegate responsibilities within the culinary operation. Essential functions may vary by location based on client needs.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Schedule and assign daily work tasks to the food service team and oversee completion.
  2. Train staff on job duties, food safety, sanitation, and cooking methods.
  3. Cook and prepare various foods following recipes and guidelines.
  4. Set up workstations with ingredients and equipment.
  5. Prepare ingredients by measuring, chopping, and peeling.
  6. Safely use utensils and equipment like ovens, stoves, slicers, mixers.
  7. Cook using methods such as baking, roasting, broiling, steaming.
  8. Arrange and garnish food according to standards.
  9. Store food safely following policies.
  10. Clean and sanitize work areas and equipment.
  11. Maintain excellent customer service and a positive attitude.
  12. Follow safety policies and ensure security of assets.
