Job summary

Alterra Mountain Company seeks a Chef to lead culinary operations at Palisades Tahoe, overseeing Gold Coast or High Camp venues. You will manage menus, recipes, quality, and production while mentoring a diverse kitchen team and maintaining cost controls.

The role emphasizes hospitality, collaboration with Front of House, and delivering exceptional guest experiences in a dynamic, high-volume mountain operation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or culinary school graduate or equivalent with progressive growth in the culinary field.
• Five years Kitchen Management and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Three years supervisory experience
• CA Food Handlers Card or ability to obtain it

Responsibilities

• Lead Culinary Operations: achieve kitchen objectives with standards for quality, productivity and guest service.
• Build a strong employee experience through an inclusive, positive culture.
• Manage and develop team performance with coaching and feedback.
• Drive hospitality and guest experience in partnership with FOH and venue leadership.
• Oversee menu development and execution with GM and F&B leadership.
• Manage food costs and inventory with portion control and waste reduction.
• Maintain safety and sanitation standards per Palisades Tahoe guidelines.
• Collaborate across operations to support daily events and guest services.
• Support continuous improvement in kitchen processes and systems.
