Nino Salvaggio is currently seeking an Executive Chef for our Livonia location, opening this fall. The position will include training at our other metro Detroit locations: Bloomfield, Troy, Clinton Twp, and St Clair Shores.

Responsibilities:
  • Direct and supervise all departmental functions, including production, to meet sales, profit, customer service, and labor goals.
  • Oversee all department staff, including training, ordering, attendance, and discipline.
  • Assist in implementing and coordinating the Catering and Party Planning programs.
  • Develop plans to maximize sales and profits.
  • Manage the department effectively, ensuring standards are met or exceeded.
  • Coordinate product production, sale, merchandising, and distribution activities.
  • Ensure compliance with health, labor laws, OSHA, and EEOC regulations.
  • Hire, train, and develop department staff according to policies and legal standards.
  • Maintain thorough product knowledge and supervise safe equipment use.
  • Work with management to determine product variety and quantities based on sales projections.
  • Coordinate product distribution, ordering, and inventory control to ensure quality and freshness.
  • Maintain good communication within the department and organization.
  • Develop staff through training, supervision, and appropriate rewards and discipline.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and customer-friendly department environment.
  • Provide feedback to management and ensure safety and sanitation standards are followed.
  • Supervise Gourmet to Go staff and demos.
  • Greet customers and ensure excellent service.
  • Motivate staff to achieve sales and service goals.
  • Lead by example.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Food service certification required.
  • Previous management experience required.
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. required.
  • Food Service Management Certification required.
  • Culinary degree or relevant experience required.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Excellent product knowledge.
  • Organizational skills and a proactive attitude.
  • Ability to write reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to measure and prepare recipes accurately.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Work in various conditions including cold, wet, hot, and humid environments.
  • Availability to work early mornings, nights, and weekends.
