Job summary

Kissel Uptown Oakland, managed under Evolution Hospitality and Aimbridge Hospitality, seeks an Executive Chef to lead the culinary team across Café, Room Service, and Banquets. You will craft high-quality menus, mentor staff, and drive financial performance while upholding safety and sanitation standards.

The role requires strong leadership, culinary artistry, and the ability to transform ingredients into memorable dining experiences in a luxury hotel environment.

Qualifications

• A two-year college degree with at least three years of related experience, or a four-year college degree with a minimum of one year of related experience is preferred.
• Five years of progressive experience in a hotel or related field, including required supervisory experience.
• Must meet certification requirements, which may include Food Handlers, Alcohol Awareness, CPR, and First Aid.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and assist in food preparation, ensuring high standards of quality, taste, and presentation across all outlets while maintaining safety expectations.
• Lead, motivate, coach, and discipline kitchen personnel to ensure efficient and high-quality food preparation and service.
• Manage food costs, budgets, and maximize cost/production ratios to optimize financial performance.
• Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and safety in the kitchen, work, and storage areas, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
• Anticipate and address issues proactively to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
• Clearly convey information and resolve concerns from co-workers and guests effectively.
