Job Summary:

An inspirational and organized leader who is not afraid to roll up their sleeves to ensure the overall success of daily kitchen operations including recruiting, training, and food preparation. The Executive Chef will showcase culinary talents through the delivery of show-quality food through personal involvement in task performance while developing and empowering onsite staff. The role involves continually improving resident, employee, and client satisfaction while maximizing financial performance. Ensures monthly budget, food and labor costs are met, and food safety & sanitation protocols are followed.

Leading Culinary Operation:

  • Lead daily culinary production, ensuring food quality, presentation, safety, sanitation, team productivity, cost controls, and profitability.
  • Determine food presentation styles and create decorative displays.
  • Provide direction on menu development based on product availability; create seasonal or special ingredient-based specials.
  • Source fresh food providers; monitor produce and meat for freshness.
  • Maintain product consistency through inspections of seasonings, portions, and appearance.
  • Research customer preferences and develop menus incorporating local foods and flavors.
  • Prepare and cook a variety of foods for regular service or special events.
  • Demonstrate new cooking techniques and equipment to staff.
  • Supervise and coordinate activities of kitchen staff.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation standards.
  • Guide and monitor staff performance, set standards, and communicate safety procedures.
  • Monitor raw and cooked food quality to meet standards.
  • Enforce food safety and sanitation guidelines.
  • Maintain purchasing, receiving, and storage standards.

Business & Financial Acumen:

  • Participate in developing and implementing business strategies aligned with client mission and values.
  • Manage department expenses including food costs, supplies, uniforms, and equipment.
  • Develop and enforce purchasing and receiving procedures.
  • Analyze financial data to adjust business plans, labor, and operating costs.
  • Develop and manage budgets, forecast, and control costs to meet objectives.
  • Identify revenue and expense opportunities and risks.
  • Oversee inventory, purchasing, and food supply control.
  • Schedule staff based on forecasted volumes.

Ensuring Exceptional Customer Service:

  • Create 100% resident satisfaction through training and resource provision.
  • Maintain professional attitude and appearance when engaging with residents and staff.
  • Improve service quality through communication, guidance, and coaching.
  • Support service behaviors that exceed customer expectations.
  • Empower employees to deliver excellent service; provide ongoing training.
  • Ensure genuine hospitality and teamwork.
  • Seek feedback and develop strategies to enhance the resident experience.
  • Review satisfaction data to identify improvement areas.
  • Respond to guest issues and complaints effectively.

Team Building and Management:

  • Lead regular team meetings.
  • Establish performance, budget, and team goals.
  • Solicit feedback and review satisfaction results to address issues.
  • Develop strategies to enhance team engagement.
  • Ensure fair treatment of employees.
  • Provide necessary training, tools, and feedback for performance improvement.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A.S. degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive culinary/kitchen management experience.
  • Extensive catering experience is a plus.
  • High-volume, complex foodservice experience is highly desirable.
  • Institutional and batch cooking experience.
  • Hands-on chef experience is required.
  • Knowledge of current food and catering trends, quality, sanitation, and food cost controls.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and internet applications.
  • Willingness to participate in client satisfaction programs.
  • ServSafe certification is highly desirable.
