Job description

Responsibilities
  1. Prepare meals from standardized recipes in accordance with orders in a timely and attractive manner.
  2. Set up food service line and workstations with needed condiments.
  3. Ensure all condiments and garnishes required are prepared and served with the appropriate foods.
  4. Assist in recipe and menu development.
  5. Coordinate preparation for the following day’s menu.
  6. Lead pre-meal meetings with food servers to review the details of the daily menu.
  7. Assist with training new kitchen employees.
  8. Ensure adequate staffing each shift and coverage for absences to prevent coverage gaps.
  9. Assist with employee scheduling within the department.
  10. Assist with food ordering, monitor inventory, and create the menu cycle.
  11. Maintain cleanliness of stock rooms, coolers, and freezers, and ensure proper storage, labeling, and dating of perishables.
  12. Maintain kitchen cleanliness and food preparation standards according to health department codes.
  13. Minimize food waste through proper storage and recycling techniques.
  14. Manage and supervise culinary staff including Sous Chefs, Cooks, Lead Cooks, Prep Cooks, and Utility Workers.
Qualifications
  1. 3+ years of experience in a commercial kitchen or related certification/degree.
  2. Associate’s Degree in a culinary-related field preferred.
  3. Serv Safe or equivalent certifications as required by local regulations.
  4. Strong organizational and communication skills with co-workers and residents.
  5. Pride in the quality and presentation of food prepared.
  6. Basic to advanced cooking and meal preparation knowledge.
  7. Understanding of food service techniques and requirements.
  8. Excellent management skills and a collaborative work attitude.
  9. Ability to multitask efficiently and adapt quickly to changing priorities.
