Job summary

City of New York seeks an Executive Agency Counsel to join the in‑house litigation team. The EAC will represent the city in arbitration and administrative proceedings, advise on policy and risk, and collaborate with the Law Department and client agencies on complex labor and procurement matters.

The role requires NYS Bar admission and at least four years of relevant experience, with strong writing, research, and negotiation skills.

Qualifications

• Admission to the New York State Bar with at least 4 years of post-law-school experience.
• Experience supervising other attorneys and handling complex legal work.
• Strong research, writing, and negotiation abilities.

Responsibilities

• Represent the city in arbitration and administrative proceedings, including labor relations matters.
• Develop and implement case strategies, and negotiate settlements.
• Liaise with Law Department and client agencies, and draft legal documents such as pleadings and contracts.
• Oversee FOIL responses and advise on policy, risk, and strategy.
