Job description

Exec Renewables Energy Trading Leader (Director to VP level) - Energy Storage
Locations: FULLY REMOTE (Anywhere in the USA)

This is an opportunity to join an industry-leading renewable energy venture and IPP with strong private equity backing, focused on the development and execution of dynamic utility-scale energy storage projects. They are at the forefront of the industry, having accumulated over 9GW of projects in a relatively short period and are currently in an accelerated expansion phase.

The Energy Trading Leader will join a fairly new and growing Asset Management Division. This creative team focuses on energy storage/battery storage asset management, O&M, energy trading strategies, and real-time operations. This role will drive energy trading and optimization initiatives for innovative renewable energy battery storage assets in support of a nationwide utility-scale renewable energy portfolio. It will also help pioneer the utilization of a proprietary battery storage/energy storage management platform for utility-scale renewable projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Takes over the energy trading functions for the company's utility-scale battery storage assets across ISO/RTOs nationwide to ensure projects are optimized and revenues are maximized.
  2. Develops and implements asset-based power trading hedging strategies that factor in day-ahead and real-time markets.
  3. Drives the quantitative modeling energy trading functions for the organization with a focus on system implementation and process improvement.
  4. Works with other Director to Executive level stakeholders on trading risk management, credit risk, and P&L reporting to streamline energy trading operations.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Finance, Business, Mathematics, or similar with utility-scale renewables experience focused on energy trading, power trading, or asset management.
  2. Proven track record of success in power trading and asset optimization, including experience with day-ahead/real-time markets, energy trading hedging strategies, and energy risk management dealing with various energy platforms (renewables, solar, wind, BESS, energy storage, natural gas, O&G, Hydro, etc.).
  3. Ability to perform and review quantitative energy trading models is REQUIRED.
  4. Candidates that have worked in the following roles for renewable, utility, or clean energy companies would be ideal: Director of Energy Trading, VP of Power Trading, Vice President of Trading, Sr. Director of Trading, Power Trading Portfolio Director, or similar.
