Overview

Responsible for the provision of nursing care in the respective division. Directs quality and resource management for areas of responsibility. Ensures implementation of current standards of practice and care. Collaborates with physicians and other departments to achieve quality patient outcomes. Ensures compliance with licensing and regulatory standards. Promotes professional nursing practice through competency validation and ongoing clinical education. Participates in strategic and business planning for areas of responsibility. Performs duties aligned with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

Responsibilities
  1. Implements active quality management programs for nursing, including patient satisfaction, outcomes, compliance, and process improvements.
  2. Facilitates multidisciplinary quality improvement activities with physicians.
  3. Establishes and maintains standards of care, practice, policies, and procedures reflecting current nursing practices and standards.
  4. Manages departmental budgets, monitors performance, and implements corrective actions.
  5. Handles human resource functions: hiring, training, performance evaluation.
  6. Communicates plans and activities across the Medical Center.
  7. Develops and implements operational plans supporting strategic goals.
  8. Keeps current knowledge of nursing practice, licensing, compliance, and legislative issues.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of five years of management experience in nursing.
  • Master's degree required.
  • Licensed RN in the applicable state.
  • Preferred: Enrolled in a Master's program with completion within 1 year.
