Overview:

Responsible for the provision of nursing care in respective division. Directs the quality and resource management for areas of responsibility. Accountable to insure implementation of current standards of practice and care. Works collaboratively with the physicians and other departments to achieve quality patient outcomes. Responsible for compliance with licensing and regulatory standards. Promotes professional nursing practice by insuring competency validation and providing ongoing clinical continuing education opportunities. Participates in the development and implementation of strategic and business plans for areas of responsibility. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.

Responsibilities Implements active quality management program for nursing that includes patient satisfaction, patient outcomes, regulatory compliance and process improvements. In collaboration with physicians facilitates multidisciplinary QI activities. Establishes and maintains standards of care, standards of practice and policies and procedures that are reflective of current and quality nursing practices as well as professional and regulatory standards. Responsible for the financial performance of departments by directing budget preparation, monitoring ongoing performance and implementing changes to correct variances. Accountable for the human resource management functions which include hiring, training and performance evaluation. Effectively communicates plans and activities with co-workers throughout the Medical Center. Participates in development of organizational strategic and business plans. Responsible to develop and implement operational plans to support the strategic plan. Maintains current knowledge of nursing practice, licensing and regulatory compliance and legislative issues.


Qualifications:

  • Experience: No less than five years of previous experience in significant management role in nursing
  • Required Education: Master's degree
  • Preferred Education: May consider experienced licensed RN with current enrollment in an accredited Master's degree program and within 1 year of obtaining the diploma
  • Certifications: Licensed as RN by the State Board of Nursing in the applicable state of practice
