Job summary

BASIS Tucson Primary is seeking qualified candidates for an Exceptional Student Services Instructional Assistant for an immediate start. The ESS Assistant will support students with special education needs, 504 plans, and EL programs at the school site, coordinating with the ESS Coordinator and teaching staff to implement IEPs and related tasks.

The role involves paraprofessional support, confidentiality of student records, and on-site supervision in a structured BASIS environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card or satisfactory state background check.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement instructional support for students with special education needs in general education settings.
• Provide paraprofessional or one-on-one support to individual students as needed.
• Assist with implementing IEPs and 504 plans under the ESS Coordinator supervision.
• Collaborate with ESS Coordinators and teaching staff to support student progress.
• Maintain confidentiality of student records and progress information.
• Perform administrative and clerical tasks for ESS operations.
• Supervise students and reinforce concepts introduced by teachers.

BASIS Tucson Primary is seeking qualified candidates for an Exceptional Student Services Instructional Assistant for an immediate start! The role of the Exceptional Student Services Instructional Assistant (ESS Instructional Assistant) is to assist in all aspects of Special Education, 504, and EL Programs at the school’s site. Exceptional Student Services Assistants help maintain communication channels with parents, peers, and supervisors regarding all ESS items and provide paraprofessional support for individual students.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
• Valid Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card and/or satisfactory applicable state background check.
• Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications

• Passing score on applicable paraprofessional exam, CPI or TACT-2
• 1+ years with related special education job duties in a similar-sized school

Primary Job Responsibilities

• Plan implementation with special educational needs in general education settings such as classrooms, halls, lunchrooms, playgrounds, etc.
• Provide paraprofessional or one-on-one support to individual students, as needed.
• Help the ESS Coordinator in all aspects of implementing individualized education programs (IEPs) and 504 plans.
• Work collaboratively with ESS Coordinator
• Provide support to teaching staff.
• Collect and maintain paperwork associated with IEPs and 504 plans and ensure confidentiality and integrity of student records and progress information.
• Support the ESS Coordinator(s) by performing administrative and clerical tasks.
• Maintain regular, full, predictable attendance.
• Supervise individual students and/or groups of students.
• Reinforce and reteach concepts introduced by special education teachers.
• Provide instructional interventions and academic support to individual students or small groups.
• Other duties as assigned.
