Qualifications

• Mississippi teaching license A or better with endorsement in special education.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialized instruction to students in the appropriate Least Restrictive Environment (LRE).
• Collaborate with general education teachers to differentiate instruction and develop learning plans.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to plan and implement activities to improve academic and behavioral skills.
• Provide accommodations as outlined in the IEP for classroom and testing situations.
• Create a conducive learning environment and manage student behavior.
• Maintain positive relationships with administration, colleagues, parents, and students.
• Communicate progress and needs to administrators, students, and families.
• Facilitate IEP meetings and complete required paperwork for caseloads; participate in re-evaluation meetings.
• Develop plans to help students meet their potential and achieve learning goals.
• Prepare progress reports for parents quarterly or as directed by administration.
• Attend scheduled special education or school-level meetings.
• Compile and maintain required documentation in a timely manner.
• Comply with policies at federal and state levels and school district regulations.
• Uphold Educator Code of Ethics and district standards.
• Demonstrate adaptability and regular attendance.
• Support the Picayune School District Mission and Vision.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
