Job summary

The Roger Bacon Academy in southeastern North Carolina seeks an Exceptional Education Teacher Assistant to support students with disabilities under the lead teacher. This 10-month position focuses on implementing instructional activities, maintaining records, and ensuring safety, with opportunities for professional development and collaboration with EC staff.

Candidates should have an Associate's degree and strong clerical and organizational skills; prior experience with special needs students

Qualifications

• Associate's degree required; focus in education preferred.
• Ability to maintain a clean and orderly environment.
• Ability to perform clerical duties.
• Ability to operate common office machines.
• Ability to maintain basic files and records.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions.

Responsibilities

• Assist classroom and EC teachers with academic and student behaviors.
• Lead small group activities as directed.
• Help with housekeeping, clerical duties, and equipment maintenance.
• Follow classroom routines and student handbooks.
• Support crisis procedures and safety protocols.
• Assist with adapting instruction and monitoring progress.
• Maintain standardized records of student progress.
• Perform other duties assigned by supervisor.
• Participate in staff development as directed.
