Job Details
  • Salary: $17.21 per hour
  • Benefits: Full benefits including paid holidays, sick leave, annual leave, holiday pay, health insurance, and retirement.
  • Qualifications: All applicants must be designated as “Highly Qualified” with 48 college credits or 7 credits in core subject matter and passing WorkKeys test scores. Previous experience working with students is desirable. Alternatives may be considered.
  • Reports To: Principal and/or designee, usually the classroom teacher.
  • Job Goal: To assist the teacher in providing a well-organized, smoothly functioning class environment and to relieve the teacher of non-teaching functions.
  • Job Responsibilities:
    1. Assist the classroom teacher with working with students individually, in small groups, or in large groups.
    2. Reinforce learning, devise strategies based on student needs, read to students, and participate in oral communication activities.
    3. Distribute and collect materials, correct assignments, supervise testing, and make-up work.
    4. Assist with behavior management and communicate with parents maintaining confidentiality.
    5. Supervise students during various activities and emergencies, and accompany students to special classes if needed.
    6. Serve as a substitute teacher if necessary and perform classroom health procedures under supervision.
    7. Perform clerical duties such as attendance and maintaining displays.
    8. Participate in training and uphold ethical and confidentiality standards.
    9. Perform additional tasks as assigned.
  • Terms Of Employment: Ten-month year; work schedule determined by the Principal.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to perform operational functions including lifting a minimum of 20 pounds.
  • Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated according to Board policy.
