Job Title: Exceptional Children’s Teaching Assistant
Reports To: Exceptional Children's Teacher
Job Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and enthusiastic Exceptional Children’s Teaching Assistant to join our team. This role involves working closely with students who have special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), providing individualized support to help them access the curriculum, develop social and life skills, and reach their full potential in a safe and nurturing learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with diverse needs, including cognitive, emotional, behavioral, or physical challenges.
  • Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and support strategies as directed by teaching staff and the SENCO.
  • Collaborate with teachers to adapt lesson plans and classroom activities to meet the needs of learners with SEND.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that promotes learning, engagement, and independence.
  • Support students with personal care needs, mobility, or communication challenges as required.
  • Monitor and record student progress and behavior, providing feedback to teachers and contributing to assessment reports.
  • Build positive relationships with students, families, and external professionals to support holistic development.
  • Uphold safeguarding procedures and promote the welfare of all children at all times.

Requirements:
  • Experience working with children with special educational needs is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of inclusive education practices and behavior management strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, resilience, and a genuine passion for supporting young people with diverse needs.
  • A proactive and flexible approach to challenges in a dynamic school setting.
